Fellow Audifans,
The fuel pump in my '91 V8 is making that loud buzzing
noise, only it is lounder than normal, very loud. The
pump is only a year old. I took it out a few months
ago and found the screen was completely clogged up.
It seems that the tank lining is deteriorating. The
whole bottom of the tank is pitted and little pieces
of what I think are galvanizing are all over the
bottom. It didn't seem like dirt.
Well, I cleaned the bottom of the tank and fuel pump
screen as well as I could. It was fine for a while,
but now the pump is louder than ever. Anyone run into
this tank lining issue with v8's? I know this was
common with the 100's, 200's, and 5000's but I
thought they fixed the issue? My car has the newer
style fuel pump (smaller one). Should I cut the
screen out of it like what was suggested to fix the
200's with the older style fuel pump?
