[V8] need legal advise

Unfortunately the statement from the SOB is probably correct - unless you are
willing to take him to small claims court. I would if I was you.
It will be fun to watch him explain that bashing off a critical steering
component with a fork, and then re-using an obviously damaged part, is normal
business practice for him.
Carefully inspect the struts to make sure he did not damage them too.
Everything he did was wrong, and you can easily show that to the court - so make
a lot of noise and then follow up with a summons.
