Hi all, up to 165K on the V8Q (70K put on in the past 16 months = bulletproof, for you lurkers and ponderers of V8 reliability out there...). Just went through it all with all new Boge Turbo gas shocks, full-blown T-belt job (pump, rollers, etc), tune-up (plugs, wires, caps, rotors) and fresh valve cover gasket. I decided that for about a $2500 investment all together, it was good for at least another year and 60-70K before I make the move to a 2000+ A8. Market prices should be pretty good for them by then, as I saw one go on Ebay recently (2001 w/fair miles) for $23K. I will likely keep the V8 for my new driver in the house (daughter).
ANYWAY - to my question: I spent last week on a run up to Northern MN with a factory rep. This moron, on three occasions, turned around in his (passenger side, nicely heated) seat to reach into the back seat for something or other. On his third trip around, I had to speak up about NOT using his knee into the seat as a pivot to reach into the back. Well, I must have spoken too late, as my wife announced a non-functioning passenger side heated seat :( the next day.
I cannot say that I recall much e-traffic in history about this type of repair. I would assume that you need to pull the entire seat out, remove the seatback from the lower, pull the (spotless tan Conolloy in this case, again :( ) leather seat cover off, find the offending, and assuming broken wire, and re-solder. Is it as easy as it sounds? Any BTDT's? I appreciate any help....
