[V8] Coolant leak

I seem to have found a coolant leak that originates at the drivers side.
There is a small heat shield which covers some black plastic parts, mounted
to the side of the engine block, and as far as I can tell somewhere in there
is the leak.
Does this make sense? Does anyone know what these parts are? Could it leak
from there?
1990 V8 running with leak.
