Electrolytic caps are cylindrical with a metal case and usually a plastic cover.
They are usually polarized - meaning there is a + and - terminal.
Tantalum caps look like a blob of epoxy and are usually yellow or orange but
probably green and other colors too. They are polarized and usually have the
minus terminal marked. Mine was yellow and located next to one of the round
coils of wire.
Both of these cap styles usually have a value of more than 1 micro farad.
Other caps styles are ceramic disk, which come in lots of shapes and sizes and
are often epoxy coated but they will have a regular shape like a disk or
rectangle. They look quite different from the tantalum blob.
Then there is the mylar wrapped. I think there were lots of these in the amp.
They often look like foil wrapped around a core and can be round or sort of like
a squished cylinder. There will not be a metal case on this type.
The electrolytics and tantalums are most likely to fail. The other types almost
never fail. If you plan to just shotgun replace parts, I would not bother with
the mylar caps.
