[V8] Compressor r&r

Just in time for the holidays --

After a bit of a romp yesterday, I had oderous smoke billowing from
under the hood.  It was coming from the front area of the a/c
compressor, which was also making a loud howling.  This morning it
didn't make the noise so much, but sure isn't engaging either.  Not sure
what happened.

So.  As I shop for a new/used unit, does anyone have any R&R BTDTs that
I should keep in mind?

PS:  Sorry to hear about your offroad excursion Jason... damage like
