[V8] Ignition Lock Assy R&R?

I have a bad ignition lock assembly on my '90 V8.

I have the dash removed to the extent to remove the Ignition switch, but
the switch wasn't enough to fix my problem.  I now have to replace the
lock assembly.

I've read through the archives for removal tips, everyone said follow
manual.

One person mentioned that they got to where it says to remove glove box.
At this point (where I am now) they just removed the steering column.

Anyone done this?

I'd hate to go through the removal of the glove box, center consol,
instrument panel cross member etc. if I don't have to.
