[V8] Throttle sticking at 1800 rpm

Occasionally after driving (mostly noticeable when coming to a stop and shifting to neutral) the rpms will hang at 1800 rpm.  I removed the airbox and checked for obstructions with the throttle cable (no interior floor mat except the built-in unit) and the cruise control rod and diaphragm assembly.  Everything appears to move freely.  If I tap on the accelerator a few times the rpms it usually returns to normal.  Any suggestions?
