[V8] Aluminum V8 Flywheel on E-Bay

Steve,

Aluminum flywheels are a common upgrade to my other toy--Jaguar OTS. If the
aluminum flywheel is well made, there should be no issue with additional
roughness. And, those who have made teh switch report that the engine seems
to rev much more freely and they like the performance aspect of it; however,
there have been complaints that the car is a bit more difficult to drive in
traffic, because the flywheel lacks the inertia needed to keep it spinning
while engaging the clutch. The result is that the engine is more likely to
die, unless you keep the revs up or apply power at precisely the right
moment. With the V8 weighing 50% more than a Jaguar OTS, I would imagine
this effect would be more pronounced. If I were hotting up my V8 with a
4.2, I might consider the switch, but as a daily driver, I think it may be a
step down in terms of driveability.

Just my $.02

Bill
