[V8] OEM batteries are good?

Yes, OEM is/was very good -- 8 or 9 years on my first V8 (Varta).  If you
decide to get a replacement from your local Auto Parts place (OEM
replacement is VERY expensive ~$170-200), make sure you get one with vent
kit and make sure it's a group 49 (not 48 like all of their computers tell
them).  Same size as used on many Mercedes cars -- it's BIG.  I recently
picked up two for our V8's from AutoZone for under $70 ea. w/ 2 year free
replacement and (I think) 72 month inclusive Pro-rated warranty. When
batteries go bad IME it's because one cell shorts out or some doofus added
non-distilled water.  Also, they don't like to sit for extended periods of
time without being used -- just like our cars ;-)
