[V8] Power steering leak

The hoses tend to leak at the crimped ends next to the pump and the
fluid can wind up on the pump. This was my experience. I had all the
hoses rebuilt(Spokane Hose) and now the pump compressor area is/has
stayed dry. I would suggest a little brake clean to clean the area,
then drive and re-inspect, you should be able to identify the leak.
Hopefully not the pump, the seals are replaceable, have not had to touch
my pump so I have no experience with these. Some have reported trouble
getting the plugs out to get to the seals, I have seen the repair kits
for sale.

Subject: [V8] Power steering leak
Hi, I'm losing power steering fluid. It seems to be leaking from the
pump, but I can't see where. The hose connections on top seem to be
dry,but under the pump is wet and the air compressor is also wet.
Do the seals go bad on these pumps? Is there a way to tell without
taking it out? Are they hard to reseal,or do you just get a new
(reconditioned) pump?
By the way, the pump was replaced 5 years ago, about 50kago.
Thanks,George
