[V8] Regular gas in the V8? Well................

NEVER. The V8 engine does not like it, and it is not a matter of
performance. I used regular on occasion in my 3.6 and then, 4.2 V8, but
found that I got a check engine light after a couple of tank fulls. I
decided that for ten cents a gallon, I would not scrimp on the octane, since
Audi's recommendation for octane was well above pump regular.

Nor do I use anything other than super premium in my 200 20Valve. With an
ecu that will allow 2.5 bar, I can't imagine what detonation would do to the
pistons....

And my wife's 100CS absolutely hates regular...one tank full and the car
starts to stumble, and have drivability problems. We use medium grade about
every fourth or fifth tank full.

This is not a good place to save money.
