[V8] V8 bits available

Thanks for all the replies! I may have thrown it out there a bit
prematurely as I am trying to decide what to do with the V8. Maybe
someone here can add there .02 cents.

It's a 90 V8, blk on blk, sport seats, 125K miles. I did the TB
service and soon thereafter (50 miles) the tranny decided to act up.
At first it was stuck in 3rd gear, no limp home symptoms such as the
lit display lights. I did the "4 qt flush" and then the tranny stuck
in 1st gear which is how it stands now. The car also spits Pentosin
on X-over pipes and the AC is shot (maybe a refilll would help) but
other than that it's just annoying little things (temp & fuel gauge
gremlins, rear DS window reg, no DS heated seat) pretty typical probs
many others here have expeirenced.

Anyways, the car is/has been parked for about a year, registration
dead, no insurance, but I drive it monthly on a "private" road to keep
it working, even if it's only in 1st gear! I have a 95.5 S6 that I
use as a daily driver now and if i did fix the V8 I probably would
sell it. There's the problem as many of us have realized. The car is
"worth" way more than the $1000 or so I could maybe get for it if I
was lucky.

What I have been pondering lately b/c of the complete lack of resale
on this thing is to turn it into a track car! Seriously! I know it's
a pig but the V8 lives about 4 miles from Summit Point Raceway on my
farm. Summit Point has FAT (Friday at the Track) almost every other
weekend where you can take your car and run it around all day. I have
visions of the V8 completely gutted on the inside, bare metal floors,
one drivers seat, glass out, doors welded shut, open pipes running out
below the doors, every item that does not make it go fast gone! Am I
nuts? My Dad seems to think so.

To that end I would need a manual tranny and a conversion done, so an
auto would only be for resale and that seems pointless considering the
next to nothing I would get for it.

So that is what I have been thinking about for several
months.......it's hard for me to let the V8 go, especially with the
thought of the sound that thing would make with open pipes being wound
out to 7K on the track!

Any thoughts? I suspect that 5 speeds are very very rare. Is the OEM
V8 manual the only option for the PT motor?
