Good point Bart. I have no personal experience w/ ECS system, and I got
my 996 calipers for a very low price, so that pretty much decided BIRA
for me. Big Reds would be nicer, both in looks and operation, and all
else equal I'd investigate both options.
My beef is ECS has been spotty for me, both with incorrect parts and a
curious dispostion. Two orders, two incorrect fulfillments. And
sometimes they're super swell, other times they're borderline annoyed
you'd even bother them with a request for such an antiquated piece of
machinery as a pre-1997 car. The BIRA caliper adapter is absolutely
superlative in quality and fitment, and for that cornerstone function,
I'm opposed to sacrificing quality for price -- which for $1500 all in,
I'd be concerned is happening somewhere.
BIRA's ordering system, such as it is, can be cumbersome and usually
requires substantial waiting time. And they deal with a lot of people
who commit only to disappear into the wild blue yonder come pay-up time,
so it's a pay, wait, wait, play arrangement.
I'm stopping here. I think I'm just enjoying hearing myself talk, since
the UFOs will do until you stumble onto a set of free porsche calipers!
