[V8] Gas hog V8s - now diesel Audi's

This morning, diesel was 3.08/gal. At lunch time it was 3.39/gal.
Regular 87RON gas (which I am using now) is around 2.70/gal last time I looked.
92RON tracks about 0.30 above regular. It has been changing by the hour lately
though.
Some other random thoughts -
Some V8s seem to bu oil suckers, others use none at all. Wierd. Mileage seems to
have little to do with it. I am pretty sure my valve guides are toast - but why
do other motors last so long??
I wonder if mileage issues are due to exhause back pressure? My exhaust is still
stock. Can you test this pressure?
