[V8] radio dead-sort of

Anything else on the radio circuit that is intermittent too?  In the
200q20v, the rear seat cigar lighter is on the same circuit, at least when
the child-proofing button is released.  The lighter part on my car was
jammed into the socket, and shorted/blew the fuse when I dug it out.  That
put the radio in "SAFE" mode.  Sounds like you have a wiring issue.
