Oh, yes! And I keep forgetting to mention fuel capacity. I have become
so spoiled by having 21 gallons at fill up, and then being able to run
long and relatively hard when going distance that the new Audis (and
about everything else) with their 18gallon tanks make me wonder if I
would actually want one.
My V8 would easily get around 21 miles per gallon going distance, so 400
miles between fillings was easy. One thing that I hate is having to
stop every fifteen minutes for fuel.
Roger
(Oh, SURE: fifteen minutes was an exaggerations I'll admit....)

Roger,
Lest I be smitten by the Audi gods, I'm reminded of my next door
neighbor
and his (realtively) new 7 series. Seems the elcectrical system (more
correctly the navi-climate-do everything system) has been given him
plenty
of grief over the past cuople of years. I alsways knew when because
he'd
have an X5 parked in its place. Now that's not a bad vehicle -- and
made in
the USA no less and more preferable to the Merc ML series IMO.
I also gained appreciation of Bavarian Motor Werks when I had the
opportunity to drive a 1600 during the summer of 1980. It was far
nimbler
than the USA-spec 2002 I bought four years later and had to spend $$$
on. I
dreamed then of the 2002 turbo, of course. Instead, I now have the next
best (maybe better yet) thing: a 1984 Urquattro, to supplement the V8.
Nimble, sporty, AWD with lockable center and rear diffs and 200 some
ponies
to make it fun. :-) Oh, and the 24 gallon fuel tank. How many cars do
you
know of that came with that kind of fuel capacity standard?
