[V8] distributor question

Adam,

In theory they only go on one way, into a very big slot like a 
straight-blade screwdriver. I've actually had one that would go in either 
way, but that was out of four I've had apart. If you do mark it, though, you 
are certain to get it right. That's because the only other way would be 180 
out, so it's pretty easy to line up.

Found the oil leak tonight while looking for the reference sensor and rpm 
sensor.  Here is my question - are the distributors geared at all (ie do we 
have to mark the position we take it off at), or does it not matter?
