Being a mechanical design engineer at Renntech, Kleeman is like a swear to me. Seriously though, I am sure they make good products but those HP claims are very fluffed. That is nearly 125 crank hp per liter. In my opinion that is a very very long shot on a three valve, stock internals, supercharged engine. We also have a lysholm supercharger setup with a laminova intercooler...along with the best software.
Obviously in this business, having the highest power output for a given engine is a big deal. On a stock 55 Kompressor engine the supercharger soaks up about 100hp at full rpm and boost. After we install a larger crankshaft pulley the supercharger is running faster, harder and less efficiently. At this point, it is surely soaking up a lot more than 100hp. Also, that lost power must go somewhere...heating the intake air. It would be very nice to have a good portion of that power back. I totally agree Keith, there are a lot of good qualities to a supercharger. In a less than 10 psi, stock internals application a supercharger is great. For many, the instant boost is irreplaceable. It is fun to talk about this stuff and I hope I didn't piss anyone off in the process.
