Alright, Guys.  I'll bite.  What "block" are you referring to? PN#?

... if you suspect any issues with the cam belt tensioning mechanism I
would say that it would be folly to let something sit for 30 thousand
miles ... it is not that difficult a task to remove the cover for the
"rive gauche" (left cylinder bank) and check the length of the tensioner
and have a general look in there.  I got to swap an engine in #2 due to
a timing belt failure ... still don't know why, the engine had around 6K
miles since a TB R&R for which I have a receipt from the PO) ... and I
consider myself to have been extremely lucky that I did not have a
similar issue on #344 ... the tensioning mechanism broke due to that
"block" wearing out ... if I had an automatic engine (without the
locating pins near the cam pulley) I'm sure the belt would have jumped
one or more teeth by the time I knew there was a problem ...

... of course if it is simply a bearing on a pulley it might be
something you can put up with for 30K ... but only if you knew that's
what it was ...
