Hey there all,
So now I'm a V8 driver since rescueing Tom DeHoff's car after the
electrical harness meltdown. Thanks to "TonyandLille" I got a replacement
harness and spent 55 labor hours changing it out. Working on a right up
with photos now. Kudos to Ingo R. and Ron W. who helped with fuse and
relay connector layout. I've driven it every day this week and have been
quite please with it's function. There are a few issues which need
resolution especially in the suspension department; however that's normal
typ-44 stuff. Where I could use a few pointers is:
1. From a dead-stop, accelerating with anything more than
minimal-throttle; a shudder is felt in the right elbow and heard faintly.
Very reminiscent of a locked center diff, turning a corner with gobs of
sound insulation added. Goes away by roughly 25mph. Repeatable. ABS
fully function I believe, although cannot disable via switch. It takes
action when stopping quickly on snowy roads in the last few days. I
haven't a clue whether this is an issue requiring repair, or simply
annoyance. Please advise.
2. Trip computer annoys me. It's telling me I've got 30miles left with
over 15gals in the tank remaining. Which harness on the back of the
cluster could I pull to leave this feature dark? Or possible fix in some
other manner (low, low priority)
3. Replaced heater core while HVAC was pulled to swap main harnesses.
Marked all removed items for position, but after re-assemled and cooling
system burp it doesn't get hot. Is this an HVAC-controller re-calibrate
issue, or a block-off the radiator cause the car is only getting to 75c
issue? (Guessing the later).
Thanks to all in advance.
