[V8] UFO brakes

Greetings all, been a while since I've had the V8 out on the road, and
now that its snowing and icy in Seattle, the time has come. I need to
change my front brake pads (UFO's) and have yet to try this particular
job, any things to look out for, or special tools required ? I'm gonna
try to pull it into the garage this weekend and thought I'd ask for any
BTDT's

Secondly, I've got a strange noise coming from the passenger side front
wheel. The best way to describe it is a dull clunk when the wheel makes
a vertical motion, not speed dependant, could this be a subframe issue?
any things to check when I'm down there doing the pads anyway ?
