... old PalmOS devices can be obtained in this price range as well ...
you will need a serial cable to connect to the ProDiag interface
(probably the same is true for VAG-COM) ... with this approach you don't
have to worry about hard disks crashing or how long it takes to boot.
You can keep the Palm and cable in the glove box at all times so you
will have it when you need it. If you want to do fancier things like
plotting out the results from a test drive you can sync the Palm up to a
PC and process the information using a spreadsheet ...
To each their own of course ... but from my post you can probably tell
my choice ...

Thoroughly satisfied ProDiag user ... although it might be nice to have
inexpensive "site licenses" which might allow me to keep a Palm in each
car ... ;-)
