[V8] Critical Tire Question

Much more than you might think.  Tire compounds and tread patterns perform
differently under different conditions.  This can cause instability in a
system like quattro.  Furthermore, these can also impact braking,
specifically wrt ABS (especially the older systems used on our cars).  This
is generally of less concern in dry weather than under less ideal (rain, ice
or snow) driving conditions, ones for which quattro was engineered for in
the first place.  Also why (regardless of type of car -- RWD,FWD, AWD), snow
tire manufacturers recommend using the same type of snow tire on all four
wheels...
