[V8] new problem I need help with - no start :(

Well, a new somewhat confusing issue came up today that I need the lists help with.  Backed the car out of the garage to try to track down a leak, and left it running.  Came out about 10 minutes later, car was off.  Restarted it, went back inside, checked a few minutes later, again, turned off.  Then it would not restart for about a half hour!  My head says its fuel pressure related, which takes me right to my definitely noisy fuel pump (not insanely loud, but you can absolutely hear it both inside and out of the car).  Any other suggestions of the "typical" cause?   It did this when I first looked at the car too up in NH, but I chalked it up to low voltage (alternator was shot, and we replaced it last week).  I am now getting 13.8 at the terminal in the engine bay with the car running, guess I'll be checking it at the batter tomorrow.

Ideas?  Suggestions?  Part of the "joys" of Audi ownership ;)
