Well, I was feeling ambitious today. In addition to the new RPM sensor, I
put in a new oil pan gasket. I drove up to Seattle last Saturday and noticed
a mess of oil under the car the next morning:

I bought a new paper gasket and at the suggestion of a few listers, I also
bought some high-temp red silicone gasket sealer. Tony suggested that I not
only scrape the 2 surfaces clean, but also use two ballpen hammers to
flatten out the lip of the steel oil pan. He says when it gets installed, it
sucks down to make a good seal around the bolts; when you reinstall, make it
flat again so it can do the same thing once more.
There are a TON of 10mm bolts holding that thing on there, and the ones at
the back are a pain in the arse; make sure not to cross thread any of them
and only torque them to 7ft lbs. My 3/8 torque wrench doesn't go that low,
so I used my 1/4 and set it for 84in lbs.
I was noticing leaking from around the oil filter corner, which could be
the oil pan gasket, the oil filter gasket, or as Dave Head suggested the oil
pressure sender - the dude with the 2 wires coming off the bottom of it seen
here:

I didn't replace the oil pressure sender, but the initial results after the
test drive look good. Now I just have to take her on a nice long drive again

- Jeremy
