How deep is your pocket? The A8 would be the obvious answer,
and the early ones (97-98) are in the low teens, some below $10K.
But... they don't have the same "quattro" that the V8 does. They
use EDL (electronic differential lock), which applies the brakes
when a tires slip, sending power to the other axle. Some argue
that that is not as good a solution as the T*rsen diffs in the V8.
There is also the A6 with a V8, but it is a bit smaller than the A8.
Other manufacturers have competing products, but most newer AWD
cars use some variation of using the ABS to control AWD traction.
You might want to consider taking the money it would cost you to
upgrade to a new car, and spending it on the few well-known problems
of the V8. Replace all the sensors, rubber lines, bushings, clean
all the electrical connections, replace the heater blower, radiator,
AC, brake calipers, ... and you'll have yourself a like-new, reliable
car for the price of a new reliable car. :)
