From: "Michael Larosa Jr"...
vacuum ? possible the 3 breather hoses ? oil dipstick nice and tight ?
v8's are sensitive to un metered air...

... read out the codes as soon as the failure recurs ... might as well
let the engine tell you what it is complaining about!
From: "Ed Kellock"...
Try unplugging the throttle position sensor and see if the throttle
on/off abruptness seems familiar. You my have a bad tps or some water
go in it.
I just drove over to the mechanic shop to have the codes pulled and
naturally the car ran fine. He ran the codes and found none. Does this car
only retain codes until the key is shut off (like 5000 TQ)? I did remove
and replace the dipstick, the breather hoses seemed OK. So I left and went
to the store for a few items (car ran fine). I started up to go back to the
office and there's the CEL and poor running condition. This condition has
only occurred (so far) on warm start-up, if that's any indication. At this
point we've got thunder showers blowing through, so I'm just going to park
it in the warehouse and take the other V8 (Volvo) home tonight.
Thanks for the suggestions,
Andy
