You should have learned, then. :)

You car needs, in parts alone, $800 in t-belt parts,
$600 in tires, ~$150 in radiator hose(s), $300 for a
steering rack, ~$150? "bomb", and $150 alternator. If
you don't do it yourself, add in about 15 hours of labor
at $75/hour, for $1100-ish, and you are at $3250 in
repairs.

Audi Connection will sell you a '90 V8 in very good
shape (some rust) for about $5K.  Subtract the $3250
in repairs that yours needs, and that puts you at
roughly $1750 without someone talking you down.  Do
the seat heaters work? The AC? All the little switch
lights? Do the speakers pop?  Rear brake calipers
float freely? Emergency brake OK? I could go on. :)

There is a '90 V8 on Autotrader that needs a head job
(and who knows what else) for $1850.
