I took my v8 to Buttera Motors in Bothell to have them inspect my timing
belt, I cannot honestly say if they'll be cheaper than any others, but they
were certainly very friendly and willing to make an effort to keep costs
down. I ended up not having the timing belt done as they stated that it
still had a good 30k miles left on it. Also they did not have a specific
tool needed for the v8, but would have split the cost of it with me had they
ordered it (somewhere around $120 for the tool iirc.)
I would definately recomend the experience I had with them, but since I did
not shop around I am unsure if there is a less expensive shop nearby.
Their address is 14235 100th Ave NE Bothell WA, 98011 425-821-1222.

Subject: [V8] help me please!!!
My roaring beauty has reached a milestone in her life. (64,000 miles) It
is
time to change the dreaded timing belt. I have heard drastic tales of
super
expensive rubber belts and I am trying to avoid that nightmare at all
costs.
Please, Please send me some advise on quality service places in Seattle.
University Audi quoted me at 1,200$ and said it may cost more if they see
other
problems (which they somehow always find). I am no millionaire. I also need
to do something with the breaks, either new pads or the UFO conversion. I
need
to find a capable shop that I can sink some serious cash into but won't
stick me on outrageous labor costs. HELP!!
