[V8] Speed sensor problem?

Let me preface with the fact that temps here have been in the low 90's this
week and high humidity.

So we had a heck of a downpour here yesterday to the point where the storm
drains couldn't handle the water and after driving through a few of these
roadway "ponds," I pulled over and waited out for the waters to subside.
About this time my car began exhibiting rough running conditions, or more
accurately, bogging-down. So I checked my previous boging-down culprits
(dist caps, TP sensor, etc and all showed no signs of water. Occasional
bogging down on the way home. Every time, I shut the car off (if it hasn't
already stalled), it starts right up. So I think water ingress somewhere
and hopefully gone by morning.

Not so. Symptoms persist throughout the day. I bring the V8 5 speed to my
local Audi guy and he hooks up the VAG-COM and nada. Test drive it and no
problems. Return to work and then attempt to leave a few hours later. She
starts fine, but immediately bogs down and stalls. Happens a few more times
and I immediately remember the bottle of cold water on the sensor trick
(though used for the crank position sensor for no-start problem IIRC. And
it worked. No problems all the way home. So sounds like heatsoak/bad speed
sensor to me. Whattaya think?
