[V8] Lost Economy Mode

My wonderful slush-o-matic suceeded in losing "Economy" mode last
night on the drive home. I think it all stems from running the car
thru a touchless car wash last week but don't know exactly where to
start searching.

Background:
Had the car washed - while it was in the wash bay, the transmission
went into "Limp Home" mode although it sometimes defaulted to 4th
instead of 3rd gear. This seems to be typical for this car which is
missing the belly pan. The next morning, the transmission operated
normally for about 1/2 mile before going into "Limp Home" mode - all
of which I attribute to water in a connector.

5 days later, everything is working correctly - transmission is
cycling thru all 4 gears per normal. Then while coasting downhill,
the transmission "downshifted" into 3rd and stayed there. I was able
to get 4th to engage by shifting into Manual mode. After coming to a
stop, I figured the transmission is in Sport mode by the timing of
the upshifts. No matter what I do with the selector, the
transmission is stuck in Sport mode although I can use 4th by
selecting manual.

Admittedly Sport mode makes Moby, the White Whale bunches more fun to
drive than Economy mode BUT I really don't want a "Thank You" letter
from OPEC for the extra fuel I'm burning. Besides, if I have to live
with a slush-o-matic, I want it to work in fully automatic mode.

Any suggestions on where to start my search? Any main tranmsission
connectors under-car that I should check for water? Anyone want to
source a 5-spd for me instead ;)

Thanks y'all,
Matthew
