[V8] More Spring Info

That article leaves me feeling that things are clear as mud.
My recollection from several years of reading various emails about
both H&R and Eibach springs is that Eibachs lowered the car less than
H&R. That is the one thing that I was most interested in.
I'm beginning to recall my fruitless efforts in trying to find an
acceptable suspension for my '83 GTI back in the mid 80's. I ended up
with stock springs and dampers and Nuespeed sway bars. (I still have
all those barely used bits if anyone is interested.)
Now again I'm inclined to steer clear of any aftermarket springs on my
V8. My goal is not to lower the car, but to gain some add'l
suspension control. I could accept 3/4-inch lower but nothing more.
I also recall that is about as much as you want to lower a quattro to
avoid bump-steer. Anyway, I prefer to retain some ground clearance.
The Bilstien HD's resulted in a slight increase in ride height on my
V8 with stock springs. And I have always been unhappy with the lack
of compliance of the HD's over minor irregularities. It rides like a
truck.. not jarring, but jiggly. The ride is never smooth. I am in
the Koni group buy for one reason: those shocks are straight hydraulic
and therefore more consistent with what was originally installed at
the factory. I intend to install them at full soft and go from there.
The only other option that seems available and reasonable is to buy
new factory dampers from Audi. I'm not interested in Boge Turbogas
and not willing to experiment with anything else.
