[V8] well lets beat this brake acumulator to death again

Dave,
My hydraulic pump failed as you describe except that the wobble plate broke 
rather than a poppet valve sticking open..  The hydraulics trade calls this 
a "wobble pump' as an off-axis plate acts as the connecting rod.  The 
wobble plate broke where one piston was attached.  Repair failed and we 
replaced the pump.  Maybe find a used pump?
