[V8] Oil Change woes!!! Filter stuck!

Okay, I've been helping Greg with these problems since the get go as I'm the
one that tried to spin the filter off and discovered the filter base had
seperated from the stamped top.

This thing is really on there.  As many of you suspect, I too think the
gasket at the top wasn't lubed and the filter was way over torqued when it
was installed.  I like the idea of spraying a little penetrating lube around
the base.  Greg, I wouldn't spray any from inside the filer, just around the
edge at the top.  And, using a torch to heat up/bake away the seal  sounds
like a good idea too.  I'll look at Lowe's tomorrow before heading up after
work.  I know a propane torch is cheap.  Mapp gas ROCKS!!!!  But, it's
expensive and probably not neccessary for burning a seal.  Propane would
probably be fine, but I'll see what they have and pick something up.  I've
been needing a torch for some time, so I'll just buy it to add to my
increasingly growing tool collection for the garage.

BTW, I took our creation to a friend's house and he's going to lay a bead
weld all around that flange tomorrow.  That should hold it together much
better than those crappy tack welds.  So, I'll bring that up with a torch of
some sort and we'll see what we can do.

My only other idea is since the threaded part of the filter that screws in
place has a little bit sticking out to grab onto, I might be able to smack a
similar sized socket onto it then using an extension+ratchet, yank it off
that way.  But, much more chance to damage something this way, so I want to
give our "homebrew" tool a real chance first.
