[V8] Oil Change woes!!! Filter stuck!

A 1/2" breaker bar should provide significantly more torque, get the
biggest 1/2" Craftsman from your local sears store and give it a try.
If you break it, just take it back and they will replace, of course,
don't mention the 6 foot pipe you had over the end of it.......... ;-)

I would think that judicious use of a torch would cook that gasket in
short order without to much heat being applied to the block or pipe
nipple attachment point.  Did you try any heat?

When you go to buy a replacement ratchet, you should
also pick up a "breaker bar".  A breaker bar has no
ratcheting mechanism, so it is stronger and is designed
to bust stuck nuts and bolts (and maybe oil filters).

And as someone mentioned, tool quality varies.  Sears
Craftsman is good enough for most of us.  Snap-On and
Mac are the Audi of tools -- expensive, but worth it.
Stay away from the unbranded stuff, as it will just
give you trouble.
