[V8] Bad Fuel Pressure Regulator, Take 2...

I can't speak to the longevity of v8 valve stem seals, but I can pass along
what I was told by a long-time mechanic friend. He told me that the best
indicator that the valve stem seals are going is when (not just starting)
you pull to a stop, at a long red light for example, and when you hit the
accelerator to pull away you get a small puff of smoke. He said it was due
to oil leaking down the valve stem when pressures were low at idle, and then
burning off when the temp rises and it's blown into the hot exhaust.

Of course having too high of oil pressure could affect this as well...

Sorry for the repeat- stupid cat on my keyboard.
I seem to remember reading that smoke on start-up
is one sign of a bad pressure regulator. Is this
true? What's the expected life of valve stem seals
on these gems? I'm at 125K and get quite a bit of
smoke on the first start of the day. TIA.
