If it's been a couple year, or you have no idea when it was changed, put
in a new one. Follow the link off my web page for the details.

If the smoking is oil, possibly valve stem seals, collapsed pistons, oil
retention valves or ?. I've seen a few smoking V8's over the years, in
two cases collapsed pistons were confirmed, has the car ever been
overheated? Valve stem seals at 125K is possible, but not likely unless
there are extenuating circumstances...original engine?..slipped belt
leading to botched or wrong seal installation?...125K is premature
failure. I have no personal experience with the oil retention valves,
but there were a few threads on this problem in the past, an archive
search might help, or hopefully someone will chime in here.

What color is the smoke? Blue=oil, brownish/rust=gasoline,
white/cloudy=coolant, purple=papa smurf picked the wrong place to get
warm.

You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with
loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.
