[V8] ECU grounding, etc. (abridged)

I'm using a paper manual for 1990. The cd manual I have is 90-94. Not sure if the paper one is worth keeping around.
ANYWAY, I replaced the maf and my car runs much better. Word to the wise: don't take the order in which the book walks thru diagnostics too literally. One of my early gut feelings was the maf sensor but in 150k miles I haven't had one go. Guess I was due.
After swapping the maf, codes showed 4444 (the first I'd seen that w/ the 4.2). So I set the rachet on righty-tighty and put everything back together cuz I gotta test drive. That included reconnecting the O2 I'd unplugged earlier.
Blasted down the road, goes great. Starts this sputtery running thing up -- oh, yeah, that. Pull codes, 2341 (runs extremely rich or lean, bad O2, etc). Since 4444 showed when o2 was unplugged, hopefully a new O2 will get me back there.
Quite coincidentally a flaps is closing and had 40% off everything a few weeks ago, and I picked an o2 up along w/ a bunch of bulbs and whatnot. Just hope it's the right one. It's bosch, I think it is the ford universal 4 wire deal.
I also picked up an O2 sensor socket while there. 3 week shelf life for random spares seems pretty good...

I am not sure what electrical manual you are using, but I have the real paper
one I bought along with the microfiche. This paper manual was newer than the one
floating around on the manual CD. Since you have a 91 5 speed, there could be
some issues.
I thought the big changes were wiring for the 5-speed, and the door lock/alarm
was a little different.
If it gets down to it, I can try to fax you pages, or even photo copy and mail.
One day I plan to get the whole manual scanned and added to the CD - but that
day seems to be getting farther and farther away...
btw, have you actually measured fuel pressure and flow?
I like to make double sure that sort of stuff is OK before tearing into wireing.
