[V8] sealant and torque specs

I assume the manual is referring to  the rings below the distributor
flange and the cam  cap ringl(the one  on the passenger side)
How critical is that sealant ? I did replace the cam  cap ring but I had
no sealer ,I just coated  it  with some clean  oil.



Sealant: For sealing.
 
 Oil: lubricant
 
 Using oil where sealant goes = leakage = bad thing.
