John,
Try twisting in a circular motion-as much as possible with the lines anyhow.
Also, put some lube of some sort on the o-rings.
As for the torque, tighten them till they break, back off a half a turn ;-)
Seriously, about 8 foot pounds. I can't find it anywhere in the manual for
specifics. However that is the standard spec for 6mm bolts.
