large piece of wood for the oil pan. Then, secure and lower the engine onto 
the chain of the holder. Also, anything around 500 lb should be sufficient. 
The engine and trans of a V8 weighs in the neighborhood of 900 lbs, but you 
are only lifting part of it, not the whole thing.

Oh, put rags or something on the fenders if you don't want them to get 
scrached. You'll see when you set it up.
