Agree with John here...my passenger side gasket also was slightly "sucked in"
when I bought the car. I was VERY careful when reinstalling it and used an
adhesive to secure it--it still eventually returned to the "sucked in" state.
BTW, I am an original owner of the car series that arguably started the
production toothed-belt-driven DOHC design. These '67 through '75 Fiat 124
engines (mine's a 1608cc 1973 model) ran their belts totally exposed on the
engine side. There is a plastic shield in front just to keep fingers away
from it. I believe the TB change recommendation is 36000 miles (I actually
do it every 50k)--it takes all of about 30 minutes and just a 10mm and 13mm
wrench and a screw-driver. Pretty cool being able to see the belt and cam
sprockets turning while the engine is running.
