[V8] Volvo diesel?

This sounds like a similar car to one a college roommate had.  He had an 84
volvo 740 sedan, typical grey boxy thing, brought it up to michigan for
school and got some bad diesel and toasted the engine.  In typical texas
fashion, he had it shipped back to his house in texas, found himself a
totalled '90 IROC and ripped the 305+tranny out of it and put it in the
volvo, 3" pipes out the back, had it weighed at the scales, and it was only
120lb's heavier than the iroc.  Some nice struts and springs were installed
and that car became a monster.  There really is nothing quite as enjoyable
as seeing the look on the face of a guy with a mustang losing to a plain old
grey volvo.  If you live in the austin area beware of a grey volvo with dark
windows and "ZZZZZZZ" on the licence plate.

An interesting little garage that I know well has a Volvo 265 wagon (I think
that is the number) for sale with a Chevy small block shoehorned into it.
This car was sitting in their lot about eight or so years ago needing an
engine, or at  least a cylinder head.  The owner at that time was trying to
get the guys in the shop interested in doing an engine swap or something to
make the car run.   I looked at the car because I had not yet become a TAF
(Total Audi Fan, or if you prefer, Total Audi Fool).

Anyway, the car is there and for sale as we speak.  It's in pretty good
shape, although I haven't really looked at it from a buyer's perspective.
