Your shift pattern sounds normal. Mine does it and it has been discussed on
the list a couple of times. Apparently, the idea is to promote warm-up by
holding each gear a bit longer when first started. The work around that someone
on the list came up with is to switch to M and then back to E and from thence
(25c word) it will shift with the usual timing.

replaced the distributor and o2 sensor running a code
4444 now. but the trans is shifting funny. it dont
slip just shifts sorta late. when its cold it holds
second for an extened time before shifting. does not
do it when warm. usually only acts up for the first
2-4 miles. a trans service is on the schedule.
