Usually no, there are tricks of the trade. If you let a car air out long
enough, HOSE the interior and pressure wash, followed by a good wet-vac,
you can get rid of all smells, even decomposition. Pressboards don't
warp much at all, they have to be pretty much waterproof, the car
companies assume people are going to leave windows/convertible
tops/sunroofs open in the rain on occasion.
I've seen professionals at work on an SL, top down, the driver died of a
heart attack, drove off the road, and was found 2 months later.....you
can image the condition of the car. When the boys were finished with it,
it looked (and smelled) like it had been just been driven off the
assembly line.
