I've been driving the last 40-50K miles on my 200q20v with an
intermittently noisy pump. It always hums, but sometimes it snarles. It
started doing that shortly after I installed it when the previous pump
plain died. I now never leave town without a tookbag and a little box that
contains a new pump, the pump extraction tool and the brass drift/hammer I
use to take the ring off the top of the tank opening. Oh, yeah, I also
carry a siphon device. That car turned over 250K during our trip to
Montana last spring to close out the ski season.
