I'm in agreement that you'll need the puller. I had intended to swap mine while on the car (the compressor, not me), but in the end it was a ton easier to remove -- I'll leave out the tragic events that coincide with that -- and do it on the bench. I used that opp'ty to change over to R134, and lemme tell you it's been nice and chilly, even on our recent 100 degree days.
