[V8] BELFAST?

Wow!

Well, I suppose that Belfast might seem rural, quiet and undeveloped if you
have never been there before. Actually, Belfast is quite a pretty town now,
due to the tremendous impact that the now, late MBNA had when it became a
sort of new-age "labor saver" for Maine. Now that it has been purchased by
Bank of America, I suspect that Belfast and the other towns that were
"benefited" by the green and cream buildings of MBNA will return to their
former slumber once those buildings are empty and the holy grail of the big
employer is once again revealed for what it is: false hope.

Anyway, I don't want to rant about the screwy economic theory of succeeding
generations of Maine politicians, but if you got as far as the Penobscot
River, it is too bad that you can't continue on up to Hancock County and to
Acadia National Park.

Ohhhh, no, no, no. I don't mean the Acadia National Park on Mt. Desert
Island. No. Not THAT one. I am speaking of the Acadia National Park that
is at the end of the Schoodic Peninsula.

And if you go there, why not continue further Downeast into Washington
County, and see a way that life really should be lived.

Roger

P.S. And that is where we are heading Sunday. And then permanently, a bit
later on....Belfast, Camden and even Ellsworth and Mt. Desert Island is
getting entirely too much like Cape Cod for my taste.
