[V8] No Rings

V8 Crew,

Those who know me, know I lurk here and for several years, sought the
perfect 4.2 V8Q. I must of looked at a half dozen, but never found the right
one.  In the meantime, the siren-song of a '99 MB E300td got me.  The price
was right, the service records were there, the owner was forth-coming, and
what the buyer's inspection found, created a price adjustment, so I lept.  I
took a deposit on my '93 S4 today and sometime next week I will be without
four rings for the first time since 1989.  It already hurts.

The Benz is not an Audi, but it creates its own grins.  During the summer I
was running about a 60 - 70% blend of BioD.  No one will ever accuse the '99
of massive acceleration, but it will move.   It's very comfortable.  Unlike
the V8Q, it provides lots of head room and I love the 37 mpg on the freeway
and 27 around town.

In short, I'll be signing off in the near future.  Before I go, I just
wanted to say thanks.  When I needed you guys, you were always there to
answer a question or four.  This is a fun dedicated list and the spats seem
few and far between.

Best of luck with your V8Qs.   Audi is supposed to be making TDI
announcements at the LA Autoshow this weekend, so I hope to have some rings
back in my garage in the not too distant future.
